The South Meck Baseball Team cannot function without our amazing players and their parents. We ask for volunteers OFTEN and appreciate everyone doing their part as each volunteer opportunity in turn rasies money for our team!!!  As each event gets closer, there will be more information.

Current Needs - Please consider 

  • Fundraising Autobell Carwash Gift Card Lead: organize gift card fundraiser in November
  • Booster Club Representative: attend each quarterly Booster club meeting on behalf of baseball (Need 4 parent reps total - ideally one from each from grad yr)
  • JV Press Box Announcer: need to be at most/all home games @ 3:45pm
  • JV Game Changer: 2 volunteers needed to share game day scoring for both home and away

What to Expect

ALL-SEASON

FUNDRAISE!!!!  Each player will need to be an active participant in opportunities where the team gets paid for working at events.  Each player must attend 2 of the volunteer event opportunities (possibly more if we can find more jobs)  (see "fundraising opportunities" page on website)

For Example: Nov 4th CLT Marathon, Wells Fargo Tournament, Wingate football parking attendants, 5K Booster marathon, football concession stand, Memorial Stadium concessions, etc (see SMB website under "fundraising opportunities" for details as we get them)

PRE-SEASON

Now

  • Practice Shirt order - if you did not pre-order your practice jerseys over the summer (3 colors), let Coach Hoop know  

  • Friday Night South Meck Football Concession Volunteer:  
    • Volunteers get 25% of proceeds donated to their team - sign up on our website, under “Fundraising Opportunities" 
  • Sponsorships Needed:  
    • Do you know someone who would sponsor the team? Go to “contact us” on website and see Sponsorships
  • Raffle Prize Items Needed: For our Miracle League game in the Spring, we need raffle prize items - Go to “contact us” on website and see Miracle League game
  • Field Work Volunteer:  Help get our field “in season” ready: dates TBD

SEPT/OCT

  • Wingate (TBD)
  • Memorial Stadium (in uptown CLT) Concession Volunteer: Sept 14th from 5-9pm (need 5 adults and 4 students) - sign up at SM baseball website, under “Fundraising Opportunities”

NOV/DEC

  • Autobell Giftcards: All players will sell 10 gift cards to support SMHS Baseball
  • Charlotte Marathon Volunteer: Nov 16th from approx 8am-1pm (need 5 adults and 6 students) - sign up at SM baseball website, under “Fundraising Opportunities"
  • Golf tournament 

JANUARY

  • Design Program Ad (Paid after roster final) – see our website under “Baseball Program”

September through January

  • Work Days (ongoing) -parents and players to get our field “in season” ready - emails forthcoming
  • Autobell (November)- Sell Autobell tickets to support SMHS Baseball - emails forthcoming
  • Program Ad (January/February) - Buy a printed ad for your player as soon as rosters are finalized -  printed program swill be ready for the first games of the season! (this will be a QUICK turnaround!)
  • Workouts (Sept-Dec) - Practices generally end at 4:30 (ISH) each day and some days, depending on group,  there will be off days scattered throughout . Possibility of before school weightlifting in Nov/Dec. There are no practices allowed after the Halloween scrimmage game- only weightlifting.

Mid-February  Tryout Date  and Rosters posted (dates vary by year)

DURING THE SEASON

  • Pre-Game Meal Delivery: We need volunteers to deliver pre-game meals to the field before a JV and/or Varsity game - meals will be pre-ordered and paid for, only need delivery  (sign ups closer to Spring)
  • Concession Stand - Parents are expected to volunteer for at least 3 shifts during baseball games. JV parents run it for Varsity games and Varsity parents run it for JV games (sign ups will be sent)
  • Charity Game Volunteers:
    • “Wage Hope” Pancreatic Cancer PreSeason Charity Game 
    • Miracle League Game (baseball for diverse abilities) fundraiser: variety of roles needed 
  • End of season banquet - within 2-3 weeks of last varsity playoff game
  • Costs to expect - CMS player fee via DragonFly (approx $125), player hats cost $25-30
