  • Sabres (15-13, 9-5) #27 lose in NCHSAA Round 1 at #6 Southeast Guilford 6-3. Hitters: Alexander, Bruce, Hedberg, Hipps, McArthur, Reynosa, Umphlett.
  • Sabres (15-12, 9-5) lose to Charlotte Catholic 10-1 at Olympic. Hitters: Hedberg, Hipps, Reynosa, Umphlett.
  • Sabres (15-11, 9-5) lose in conference tournament semi-final at Ardrey Kell 4-2. Hitters: Bruce, Diaz, Hedberg, Motsinger, Reynosa, Umphlett, Weston.

  • Sabres (2-2, 1-0) lose non-conference game to Weddington 4-2.   Hitters: Bruce, Diaz, Hedberg, McArthur, Motsinger, and Umphlett
  • Sabres win conference opener over Harding 16-0. WP: Alexander  SV: Terte  Hitters: Hipps, Cline, Motsinger, and Reynosa 
  • Sabres defeat East Mecklenburg 12-5.  WP: Bagi   SV: McArthur   Hitters: Bruce, Cline, Hipps, McArthur, Reynosa, and Umphlett.
  • Sabres drop season opener to Marvin Ridge 6-3. Hitters: Alexander, Bruce, Diaz, McArthur, and Umphlett. 

 

2015 SEASON

Recap:

  • NCHSAA Round 1 vs West Forsyth: Sabres travel to Clemmons, NC to face defending NC4A State Champion West Forsyth HS and are unable to overcome a late sixth inning rally by West Forsyth dropping the contest 6-4. Sabre highlights were led by the two Davidson bound Seniors Eric Jones with a 3run Bomb and Max Bazin with a 3-4 evening.
  • Sabre season is complete with a 17-8 record.
  • In the Semi-Finals of the SoMeck8 Tournament Ardrey Kell defeats the Sabres 10-0. Next up will be the First Round of the NCHSAA State Tournament. Sabres will be the #3 seed from the SoMeck8 Conference. Seeding in the State Tournament to be announced.
  • Sabres open the SoMeck 8 Conference Tournament with a win over Olympic 8-0 at Ardrey Kell (May4). Sabre hitting attack was led by Lawson McArthur (1-3), who dropped a 2 run bomb over the Right field fence at Ardey Kell HS in the 1st inning. Max Bazin was 2-3 and a RBI. Juan Diaz went 1-1 with a Double and 2 walks. Colby Bruce picked up the win for his 7th on the Season.
  • Sabres drop their final Conference game of the year 6-1 to Ardrey Kell (Apr 30). Sabres finish Conference play in third place with a 10-4 record (16-6 overall ).
  • Sabres drop a heartbreaker to Providence 4-3 (4/28) in the bottom of the 7th on a walk-off single. Christian Umphlett takes the loss.
  • Sabres rally late to top Olympic 7-3 (Apr 24). Colby Bruce picks up his 6th win. Christian Umphlett with the save.
  • Sabres top Berry 16-1 (Apr 22) behind a 9K performance from Jon Bagyi for the win. Highlighted by a 3-3(2 doubles) night by Austin Smith and a Lawson McArthur solo HR. 
  • Sabres get a timely hit by Nick Reynosa in the 6th inning to plate the winning run against Charlotte Catholic (Apr 21) 4-3.
  • Reed Hedberg goes 3-3 on the day. Colby Bruce enters the game in relief to pick up his 5th win of the season.
  • Sabres win at West Meck (Apr18) 19-0. Sabres pound out 17 hits, highlighted by Christian Umphlett's Grand Slam in the fourth inning. Colby Bruce picks up the win.
  • Sabres rebound to finish the Greater Charlotte Invitational with a 2-1 record. A 3-2 win over Marvin Ridge (Apr 7). Nick Reynosa was 2-3 with an RBI. Eric Jones was 2-3 with a Double and a walk off line drive single in the bottom of the 7th, scoring Max Bazin with the winning run. Lawson McArthur with a complete game, picking up his first win of the season.
  • Sabres drop their Second Round game in the Greater Charlotte Invitational, 8-5 to Ardrey Kell (Apr 6). Nick Reynosa was 2-3 with a Double and 2-RBI's, Max Bazin was 2-3 with a Double, an IW, and 3 runs scored. Christian Umphlett took the loss.
  • Sabres win their First Round game in the 1st Annual Greater Charlotte Invitational, 6-5 over Weddington HS (Apr 4). Max Bazin led the Sabre hitting attack going 3-4 with 3-Runs scored, 2-RBI's, 2 doubles and his 3rd HR of the season. Six other Sabres also with one hit each. Christian Umphlett picks up the win in relief.
  • Sabres game Thurs (Apr 2) is suspended due to a rain delay. Game will resume TBD. Score is 3-3 in the 7th inning.
  • Sabres take two from Harding (Mar 31) 11-0 and 17-0. Max Bazin led off Game 1 with his second round tripper of the season and two BB's. Eric Jones went 2-2 adding his first HR of the year and a triple with 3 rbi's. Lawson McArthur was also 2-2, with a triple. Reed Hedberg got the win. In Game 2, Sabre bats came alive with Six Sabres getting hits, highlighted by a Lawson McArthur bomb on to the Right Field Hitting Facilty roof. Tony Figueroa with 2 Doubles and 3-RBI's. Carter Loesch picked up the win. 
  • Sabres lose on Friday March 27 to Ardrey Kell 7-4. Max Bazin was 3-4. Lawson McArthur gets is second HR of the season with a 2 run shot over the Right Field Wall. Colby Bruce takes his first loss of the season.
  • Sabres drop their first Conference loss of the Season on some untimely errors in the 7th inning to Providence 4-1 (Mar 24). Lawson McArthur pitched 5 strong shutout innings, but the Sabres could not hold on in the last frame on 4 unearned Providence runs.
  • Sabres go extra innings at home Mar 21st in the Miracle League Game and defeat Myers Park 5-4 on a walk off Double by Reed Hedberg to score Christian Umphlett for the winning run. Umphlett also comes in relief to record his Second win of the season. The game was tied on Lawson McArthur's single to right in the bottom of the Seventh, scoring Max Bazin for the tying run. Max Bazin was 2-2 with a Double, 3 runs scored and 2 walks. Eric Jones was 2-4, with a Double.
  • Sabres rebound at home against Olympic 8-4 (Mar 20) pushing their Conference record to 4-0 (7-1 Overall). Christian Umphlett with the win. Colby Bruce with a 2run HR (his first). Eric Jones 3-3, 2-Dbls., and 3 RBI's. Max Bazin 2-4. Lawson McArthur 1-1, Dbl., 2-BB's, and an RBI. 
  • Sabres suffer their first loss of the Season at Weddington 10-2 (Mar. 18). A big 6th inning for the Warriors who put 6 runs on the board by a couple costly Sabre errors. Lawson McArthur took the loss. Max Bazin led the Sabres, scoring both runs while hitting 2-3 with a Double and an HR, his first of the year.
  • Sabres move to 6-0 (3-0 in Conference) on the Season, with a 3-0 Shutout over Charlotte Catholic (Mar 17). Colby Bruce picks up his 3rd win. Juan Diaz with the Save. Lawson McArthur 2-2 with a Sac Fly and a RBI. Eric Jones 1-2, Dbl.
  • Sabres notch their 5th win of the Season (Mar 13) vs West Meck 22-5. Lawson McArthur hits his first HR of the year. Sabres pound out 16 hits in the rain soaked contest. Carter Loesch tallies his first win of the Season. This Sabre win marks the 100th Win for Coach Tuscan at South Meck.
  • Sabres win Berry Academy 12-2 (Mar 10). Freshman Reed Hedberg gets his first Varsity win on the mound. Max Bazin led the Sabre hitting attack going 2-3, 1-RBI, 1-RS, 1-SB, 1-BB. Colby Bruce 2-2, with a Dbl., 2-RS and a RBI. Andrew Motsinger 1-1, 2-BB's, 2-RS and 3-RBI's. Reed Hedberg 1-3, Dbl. and 4-RBI's. 
  • Sabres win versus Myers Park 6-0 (Mar 9). Juan Diaz gets his first Varsity win with a stellar 5 innings of work. Lawson McArthur led the hitting attack going  3-4, with a Dbl. and 2-RS. Eric Jones was 2-3 with a RS and an RBI. Chris Brown was 1-2 with 2 Sac Bunts and 2- RBI's.
  • Sabres win on the road at Marvin Ridge 6-5 (Mar 7). Eric Jones with a 3-3 day and 2 RBI's. Lawson McArthur went 2-4 with a Double to the gap and 2 RBI's. Juan Diaz with a 2-3 day. After being hit to lead off the 7th inning Max Bazin took 2nd on a well executed sacrifice bunt by Nick Reynosa and then plated the winning run on a hard driven single to right by Eric Jones. Colby Bruce picked up his 2nd win of the season on the mound.
  • Sabres win their season opener on Tuesday (Mar 3) 3-2 over Independence, behind Colby Bruce's 4 innings and a 2-2 (triple, 2 rbi's)night by Chris Brown. John Bagyi picked up the Save.

 

2014 SEASON
2014 Varsity Schedule & Results

Recap:

  • NCHSAA State Championship series - West Region (West Forsyth) vs TBD (East Region)
  • NCHSAA Regional Series - West Forsyth defeats Providence 2 games to none in best to three series.
  • NCHSAA Round 4 - Providence defeats AK 3-0
  • NCHSAA Round 3 vs conference foe Providence: Facing Providence for the 4th time and 3rd time on their home field, the Sabres came back from a 4-0 deficit with a 4-3 ballgame and the bases loaded only to come up short. Final 4-3 Providence. Sabre season is complete with 20-8 record.
  • NCHSAA Round 2 vs. Watauga: Sabres traveled to Boone to faceSAA Round 2 vs. Watauga: Sabres traveled to Boone to face the #2 seed Watauga club. Munch Smith pitched a complete game shutout 7-0 as the Sabres delivered a 15 hit performance.
  • NCHSAA Round 1 vs Hough: Sabres defeat the #1 seed Huskies on their home field 5-2 behind the pitching of Max Bazin who delivered a complete game.
  • Game 2 of the inaugural SoMeck8 Conference tournament saw the Providence Panthers defeat the Sabres 8-3. Next up will be the State Tournament as the #3 seed from the SoMeck8 conference.
  • Game 1 of SoMeck8 Conference tournament between West Meck and South Meck ended 15-1 in favor of the Sabres. Charlie Johnson picked up his 5th win and Phillip Jester had his season debut on the hill in the 5th inning. Eric Jones slammed two HRs, including a grand slam in the 4th inning. Munch Smith added another grand slam in the 4th inning as the Sabres posted 10 runs in this inning.
  • Sabres drop season finale at AK 6-1. Finish regular season 17-6, 11-3 in conference for third place.
  • Sabres return to action after a lengthy late season gap with a huge conference win against Providence at home on Senior night. Providence was tied for 1st place entering the contest with one conference loss. The Sabres won 8-0 behind a sterling pitching performance by Max Bazin, timely hitting and some costly Panther errors. Base running was a big reason forcing the miscues, resulting in several runs scored.
  • Game 3 of Jack Sink Tournament Charlotte Christian beat the Sabres 10-2 on April 17.
  • Game 2 of Jack Sink Tournament Sabres beat Charlotte Latin 8-1 behind a complete game by Charlie Johnson. Harris Yett homered for second game in a row.
  • Game 1 of Jack Sink Tournament Sabres defeat Providence Day 12-2, Eric Jones with the win, and Michael Smith, Harris Yett, and Christian Umphlett with 2 hits each. Yett had a HR.
  • Sabres win 10-0 over Olympic on April10th behind a perfect game pitched by Michael 'Munch' Smith. Munch struck out 7, and was 2-4 at the plate with the walk-off RBI single to close out the game.
  • Sabres shut out Charlotte Catholic 6-0 on April 8th. Max Bazin wins his 5th game.
  • Sabres give up 2 runs in first and bounce back to beat West Meck 15-2. Michael Smith got the win and was 3-3 with 4 RBIs at the plate.
  • Sabres top Berry on April 1st 11-1 behind Max bazin pitching and Eric Jones hitting.
  • Sabres win at Harding 18-1 on Friday March 28th.
  • Sabres bounce back with a 10-0 win over Butler March 27th. Charlie Johnson earns the win, with Max Bazin (3 RBIs), Michael Smith (2 RBIs) and Kirstan Feist (2 RBIs) leading the attack. 
  • Sabres lose a heart breaker to Ardrey Kell 8-6 on Tuesday Mar 25. Michael Smith pitched 5 1/3 strong innings, leading 6-2 going into the 7th but the Sabres could not close the door on 6 AK runs.
  • Sabres see their 5 game winning streak come to an end at Providence March 21st with a 5-2 loss. This is the Sabres first conference loss, moving their record to 8-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Max Bazin took the loss.
  • Sabres win at Olympic 13-7 after a multi-day rain delay on March 20th. Michael Smith picked up the win.
  • Sabres hand new conference opponent Charlotte Catholic their first conference loss, defeating the Cougars 10-0 on March 14th. Max Bazin picks up the win. Brooks Kennedy delivered the first pitch of the game over the 340 sign in left center for his first HR of the season.
  • Sabres win vs West Meck 21-0 on March 11th. Charlie Johnson gets the win.
  • Sabres defeat Berry in conference play 23-1 March 10th. Christian Umphlett gets the win on the hill and delivers 8 RBIs.
  • Sabres rebound at home in Miracle League Game March 8th to defeat Myers Park 5-1. Max Bazin pitch 6 innings for the win. Brooks Kennedy had a 4-4 day and Bazin was 3-4.
  • Sabres suffer loss at Myers Park March 5th in non-conference play 4-2. Michael Smith took the loss. Offense was provided by Michael Smith's RBI single in the 1st and Lawson McArthur's first Sabres Home Run in the 2nd.
  • Sabres open conference play with 19-0 win over Harding on March 4th.
  • Sabres suffer first loss of season at Hough 10-7 Saturday afternoon March 1st. A big 3rd inning for the Huskies put 8 runs on the board. Christian Umphlett took the loss. Brooks Kennedy and Munch Smith led the Sabres combining for 5 of their 8 hits.
  • Sabres win home opener on Thursday (Feb 27) 6-1 over Marvin Ridge. Max Bazin pitched 5 1/3 inning in the win and also contributed with hitting along with Harris Yett.
  • Sabres win their season opener on Wednesday (Feb 26) 6-2 over Independence, behind Charlie Johnson's 4 2/3 innings and timely hitting by Bazin, Umphlett and freshman Reynosa.
