2012 Miracle League

SABRE BASEBALL FANS RAISE >$3K FOR THE MIRACLE LEAGUE!!

South Meck Sabre Baseball’s inaugural charity game to raise money for The Miracle League was a HUGE success! Money raised at the event will help to build a custom-designed, rubberized turf field at the University City YMCA that will be handicap accessible so that kids with mental and physical disabilities in the Greater Charlotte area will have a safe place to play ball. Personalizing the importance of the charity’s efforts, one of the Miracle League players, Morgan, threw the first pitch at Wednesday’s game. Students, families, alumni and friends from the community participated in activities including a Home Run Derby (student winner—Jeff Pugsley!), face painting by National Art Honor Society students, a pitching contest, a Silent Auction and Raffle. Throughout the afternoon and evening, SMHS National Honor Society students and Diamond Dolls volunteered to help keep the event running smoothly. Sabre Baseball players wore pink t-shirts on Wednesday to build excitement about the event. Their enthusiasm was carried to the field where they beat the Cox Mill Chargers 11-1! The baseball team is to be commended for their support of our school as well as their commitment to helping the community.

The South Meck Baseball Miracle League Committee wishes to thank ALL of those involved in the planning and execution of a successful event. We look forward to opening day at the Miracle League field at University City YMCA in the Fall of 2012.
